OriRackTM - Origami Inspired Drum Rack
OriRack™ is a new category of compact drum rack — designed from the ground up for speed, portability, and everyday use, practice at home, teach, play small gigs, or need to travel light without sacrificing stability. It sits between drum racks & drum stands …and fills a gap the market has largely ignored. We see OriRack™ as the foundation of a new compact rack category and are actively exploring licensing opportunities with a hardware partner interested in leading this space.OriRack™ rethinks traditional drum rack hardware and enables you to use your own drums quickly and easily anywhere.OriRack™is the rack to reach for when a full rack is too much — Just Get Your Drums On™

Inspired by the Brompton Bicycle and the Strida, and Origami boats and chairs - the designer in me wanted a smaller drum kit. The search was on , but it quickly became clear that what I actually needed was a way to organise my own drums - to make them easier and faster to setup and tear down. After multiple iterations and prototype testing , the OriRack™
emerged — a compact rack system that help preserves the look, feel, and playing experience of a traditional kit, and with integrated snare and bass drum holders - it comes alive in minutes.Shaped by real drummer feedback, the bass drum mount supports both 14″ and 16″ toms configured as a bass drum — enabling an ultra-portable bass setup with a 14″ tom, or a fuller-sounding bass option using a 16″ floor tom. With ability to support accessories including your own bass pedal and cymbals.

Traditional drum hardware is often heavy, bulky, awkward, and slow to set up or tear down.OriRack™ simplifies all that - allowing drummers to focus on what matters most — playing drums. Two core design goals shaped the OriRack™ .
First, to create a foldable rack that packs down to the size of a cajón and for playing - locks into a compact, rigid drum rack.
Second, to shrink a standard 5-piece kit into a more efficient configuration by eliminating the traditional bass drum.Through development, it became clear that a 16″ bass represents the minimum expectation for working drummersCombined, these goals define OriRack™Example Configurations
A) 10″ snare, 12″ tom, 14″ bass
B) 13″ snare, 14″ tom, 16″ bass

OriRack™ combines aluminium, wood, rubber and precision hinges for an optimal balance of strength, weight, and feel.Aluminium forms the main structure, providing rigidity, strength and low mass, while wood at key contact points dampens vibration, protects hardware, and preserves a natural playing response.Strategically placed hinges allow quick, repeatable transitions between a compact transport form and a fully deployed playing setup, locking firmly in place for stability. The result is a rigid, foldable platform that performs like a fixed rack, with a custom platform of components that support the drums and accessories and deliver an intuitive, innovative experience.

OriRack™ is built for drummers who need a compact setup without sacrificing feel, stability, or visual appeal.
OriRack™ is designed for home practice, teaching, rehearsals, small venues, and travel-light situations—especially for players who want to reduce their footprint while continuing to use their own drums and hardware. From a product-category perspective, OriRack™ sits between traditional single stands and full drum racks, defining a new class of compact rack systems aligned with modern demands for portability and space efficiency. The design responds directly to market shifts toward smaller living spaces, increased home-based playing, and working drummers who require fast, reliable setup in constrained environments—without compromise.

OriRack™ is currently under development and protected by a Provisional Patent Application (PPA).The project is not being sold direct-to-consumer.DRUMBUD™ is seeking to license the design to an established manufacturer with the capability to produce, distribute, and support the product globally.Partner Opportunity OriRack™ offers manufacturers:
- A new product category, not a SKU variation
- Clear differentiation from existing rack and stand lines
- Alignment with modern drummer behaviour and space constraints
- Strong positioning for entry-level through pro marketsDetailed technical information is available under NDA.
OriRack™ is currently in active development, with functional prototypes in testing and ongoing design iteration. If you’re a manufacturer, distributor, or strategic partner interested in learning more:Contact the team at DrumBud
